Antonín Dvořák was a celebrated Czech Romantic composer whose richly melodic music blends European classical traditions with the distinctive rhythms, colours and spirit of his Bohemian homeland.

Antonín Dvořák

Antonín Dvořák was a Czech composer whose music combines the traditions of European classical music with the rhythms, melodies and character of his native Bohemia. Best known for his symphonies, concertos, chamber music and operas, Dvořák developed a distinctive style that is both richly lyrical and full of energetic dance rhythms. His Symphony No. 9 “From the New World”, Cello Concerto and Slavonic Dances are among his most celebrated works. Dvořák also spent several years in the United States, where he directed the National Conservatory of Music in New York and drew inspiration from American musical traditions. His music remains among the most popular and frequently performed of the late Romantic period.
