Sheffield Chamber Orchestra welcomes new members, subject to available vacancies. We don’t normally hold auditions, but a minimum playing standard equivalent to Grade 8 is expected. If you are interested in joining, please click the contact form below.
What to expectRehearsals
There are usually 6 or 7 rehearsals prior to each concert, and on the day of the concert an afternoon rehearsal is held at the concert venue. Rehearsals are taken seriously, but they are also friendly occasions – full of goodwill and humour.

Sheffield Chamber Orchestra consists of 40 musicians across strings, woodwind and brass sections. Vacancies arise from time to time. Please contact us if you would like to enquire about joining the orchestra, or to be added to our waiting list.
Become an extraAdditional Players
We maintain a list of players of instruments that we do not use regularly, such as harp, extra double basses, horns, percussion, etc., who we can call upon when the programme demands it. If you would like to be added to this list please get in touch.
