Sheffield Chamber Orchestra is delighted to announce that John Lyon will be conducting our upcoming concert on Saturday, March 21st, 2026 at 7:30 PM. We are thrilled to be working with John again and look forward to the energy and insight he brings to our performances.
John is an accomplished conductor, music educator, and arranger based in Sheffield. He currently serves as Principal Conductor of the Leeds Symphony Orchestra and works widely across the UK in opera, symphonic music, and education. He is also deeply involved in music education locally, including his work with Sheffield Music Hub, and is known for his collaborative spirit and commitment to musical excellence.
Our March 21st concert, Great Classical Masterpieces, presents a fabulous evening of repertoire featuring:
Beethoven – ‘Egmont’ Overture
Bruch – Violin Concerto No. 1 performed by rising star Esme Greenwood
Brahms – Symphony No. 2 in D Op. 73
It’s an inspiring programme of timeless orchestral works that showcase both the orchestra’s versatility and John’s dynamic leadership on the podium.
We are also excited to share that John will return to conduct our June concert, where we will perform Joseph Haydn’s magnificent oratorio The Creation, in collaboration with Steel City Choristers — a highlight of our season and a truly uplifting musical experience.
Tickets & details for the March concert are available on our website. We hope you’ll join us for an unforgettable evening of music under John Lyon’s baton!
